What is Midwest Recycling Association?
Originally incorporated as the Western Wisconsin Recycling
Association in 1992, the organization was created primarily
to assist rural governments with recycling responsibilities.
This was in response to the State of Wisconsin's 1989 recycling
law that deemed local units of government responsible units
(RU's) in charge of local recycling programs.
In 1999, reflecting the fact that the association's service
area had grown to include recycling programs in neighboring
states, the organization's name was changed to Midwest Recycling
Association (MRA).
The MRA prides itself on it's ability
to provide it's members with a variety of education and consulting
services and the opportunity to cooperatively market recycling
commodities.
MRA is served by an Association Director, an Assistant and
a seven member Board of Directors, which coordinates marketing,
consulting and educational services.
